Adam Lambert's Singapore performance leaves chart impact

When Adam Lambert performed in Singapore over the weekend, he didn't just win rave reviews from most of the concert critics in the audience -- he also left his mark on the nation's version of the Billboard chart.

Every single the former "American Idol" star has released in the country to this point has reached the top spot on the Hot 30 Countdown, and now we can say the same for "Fever." The Lady Gaga-penned number has yet to be released on its own here in the United States, and there is some debate as to if it will since American radio tends to unfortunately be more conservative than elsewhere in the world.

With that in mind, two other quality songs in "Sleepwalker" and "Aftermath" are currently being considered. Would you like to see one of these songs start working their way up the radio charts? A short film has been made about Adam Lambert, exploring his impact of the world.

The 10-minute-film called Adam Lambert Light and Love went online today and takes a look at the effect he is having on the world and his rapidly growing fan base.

Film makers interviewed several Lambert fans who spent hours on the sidewalks of Providence, RI, waiting to gain entrance to his concert at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel.

His fans, of all different ages and backgrounds, speak about the impact Adam has had on their lives in the film.

“He’s unloosed an incredible wave of positive transformation,” film maker Juneau Underwood said in a statement released announcing the film.

“[Adam] promotes honesty. He validates it. It shows the intensity of people’s desire to be themselves.”

Adam Lambert Snubbed From The VMA's - WTF!!!

Adam Lambert fails to get any nominations from the MTV Video Music Awards.... WTF? Some things I just don't understand. Adam Lambert had an amazing album with several outstanding videos, yet he gets snubbed from even a nomination from the VMA's?

I'm not the only one who thinks this is ridiculous. Adam Lambert's friend and fellow musician Ke$ha had this to say to Billboard Magazine:

“It's a little bit unfortunate that he didn't get nominated, because he does have one of the best voices I've ever heard. In a business full of utmost douchebaggery, I'm really lucky to have found a real friend in him."

Adam Lamberts Take on Sin Synthetic's "Stalker" Song

As most of you know by now, there is a song by artist Sin Synthetic about Adam Lambert. It's a very creepy stalker type song. To be honest I wasn't sure I liked it until I emailed the artist about the meaning of the song. He stated to me that he is a huge fan of Adam Lambert, however, the song is tongue and cheek. It's not to be taken seriously, and he strongly discourages anyone to stalk Adam Lambert or any other celebrity.

I went to Sin Synthetic's Itunes page for this song and read some of the over 260 reviews. Most of the reviews on Itunes were scathing negative remarks. It seemed only a small handful of people shared my new found amusement with the song.

With such dramatic responses I wondered if Adam Lambert himself has heard the song, and if he did what he thought of it. I tried, however, was not able to get any official response from Adam's camp. However, I was able to communicate with some people close to Adam. They did say that he has heard the song and he "Loves It". They said he was actually very flattered by it.

I'm glad to see that Adam Lambert has a great sense of humor and is able to see the levity in things. I just hope that more of his fans would relax and see Sin Synthetic's song as a playful tribute to a sexy and talented man.

As of my last email with Sin Synthetic, he has stated that Adam has not contacted him. However, he was sure to mention that if he did it "would be a dream come true".

Come on Adam... I want to see pictures of the infamous "stalker" with Adam Lambert. LOL That would be great!

Adam Lambert on American Idol tonight!!

American Idol: Adam Lambert mentors tonight for likely Elvis theme

Adam Lambert will mentor the top nine "American Idol" contestants tonight for a reported Elvis theme week. The show starts at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Two "Idol" singers will go home on Wednesday. The double elimination is due to the judges' decision to use their one-time "save" on Michael Lynche last week.

Lambert placed second on the previous season of "Idol." Ken Warwick, executive producer of "Idol," is making waves online today for his comments to Entertainment Weekly regarding Lambert's mentor role. Here's an excerpt from the EW interview:

EW: Okay, so how are you feeling about the show overall? There’s obviously been criticism that season 9 got off to a sleepy start. Do you think having Adam Lambert come in this week is going to shake things up and infuse the show with that added bit of drama that he generally manages to bring to the screen?

Warwick: I sincerely hope so. Because the guy is an incredible talent, and he had an incredible following. And it kind of upsets me that at the moment he’s not doing quite as well… [Pauses.] I don’t know what possessed him to do what he did at the AMAs, but he’s still struggling to live it down. And everybody says to me every week, ‘When are you gonna bring back Adam?’ They want to see him as he was. And hopefully we’re gonna do that for him this week, and we can start putting him back firmly where he belongs, as a major star. Because the guy is an incredible talent. He genuinely is. And it kind of breaks my heart to see someone with that much talent struggle a bit. So hopefully we can do back for him as he can do for us.

Tonight's "Idol" is approximately 90 minutes. The spring installment of "Glee" premieres at 9:28 p.m. on Fox.

Adam Lambert Explains His Panties Situation

Adam Lambert keeps it low-key in a cap and sunglasses as he arrives back at LAX airport on Sunday (April 11) in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old glam rocker recently was asked what he does with the panties that have been thrown at him on stage during a concert. He told ET Canada, “Well, that’s an interesting question. I mean, what do you do with the panties? You don’t know where they’ve been. There’s really no place in my suitcase for spare panties so I tend to kind of acknowledge them and throw them back. I think it’s more about the act of throwing them then it is about the actual panties. It’s the gesture.” So keep throwing them, ladies!

This Saturday, Adam is performing at the 2010 GLAAD Awards in Los Angeles.

That's a seven percent increase over the previous week, bring his total to 756,000. (If he can maintain downloads in the 50,000 area, he'll pass the million mark in five to six weeks.)

With all the leather and glitter and controversial awards-show performances, it's sometimes easy to overlook the human side of "American Idol" star Adam Lambert.

He gets sad. He feels lonely. He is insecure. And all of those things are on display in the video for his new single, "Whataya Want From Me" (from his For Your Entertainment LP), which premieres on MTV and VH1 Friday. For proof, we offer you this sneak peek.

In the clip, we see Lambert stripped of his trappings, wandering around a sparse (yet tastefully minimal) apartment. There are no outlandish costumes, no creative eyeliner applications — just a guy feeling very much like an island unto himself, which is something Lambert probably feels from time to time. It's no secret that it's pretty lonely at the top.

Which is why he looks so utterly honest when he sings the chorus of the song: He's literally asking the listener what they want from him. He's begging to know how much more he is expected to give. Lambert is a man who takes pride in being true to himself, yet, as the song — and video — seem to imply, being the center of that kind of attention is a double-edged sword, and comes with a big downside. If he edits himself, one portion of his fanbase will chastise him. If he goes all out, he draws the ire of the FCC. So, really, what does everyone want from him?

It's a pretty deep question — one we'll no doubt find the answer to when the "Whataya Want From Me" video premiers on Friday.

Lady Gaga Defends Adam Lambert from Homophobe

It’s not a secret anymore that Adam Lambert, the American Idol runner-up that got to have perhaps more fans than the official winner of season 8, is a fan of Lady Gaga’s, having even worked with her on a track from his debut album. According to ShowbizSpy, the feeling is mutual and there is virtually nothing the singer wouldn’t do to defend her friend, especially when attacked by a homophobe.

The report originates from the National Enquirer, which, some may say, is not exactly the most reliable of sources but that, nevertheless, has been known to break many a major story throughout the years. According to the tab, at one of her most recent concerts, Gaga was verbally pushed into a corner by a member of the audience for being friends with Lambert, who is very open about his orientation, which is also obvious in his music, some believe.

“I saw you and Adam Lambert on the AMA show, and the guy’s a flaming [expletive] – and I also think that you’re actually a MAN!” the person reportedly shouted in Gaga’s face. Not for even a second did the singer lose her cool and, staring the man right in the eyes, she told him that, “Well, that’s your opinion, isn’t it? And I’m not about to waste my time trying to change it.”

This could have stopped here if the man did not insist on giving Gaga a piece of his mind by letting her know that, for their sins, both she and Adam Lambert would be going straight to hell, which is when the “Poker Face” hitmaker started to show the first signs that she just had had more than she could take. “No… not as long as I don’t have to see YOUR face there!” she told the man when asked whether she cared about where she’d spend eternity with Lambert.

However, the situation got completely out of hand when the man told Gaga both she and Adam were “freaks.” “Okay, that’s it! Call ME anything you want, but when you start calling my friends names, it’s OVER – it’s WAR!” she reportedly yelled as she reached out for a glass of hand. The “weapon” of choice procured, she poured it over the guy’s head and then made a swift dash for the exit, the report goes on to say.

Adam Lambert Clears Up Rumors On 'The Jay Leno Show'

'My father was rumored to be mortified by what I did [at the AMAs],' the 'American Idol' runner-up said.

Adam Lambert appeared on "The Jay Leno Show" on Monday night, where he discussed how dramatically his life has changed since he competed on "American Idol," performed at the American Music Awards and released his first album, For Your Entertainment.

"I'm hanging on white knuckles. It's a good ride. I mean how hasn't [life changed since 'Idol']?" he said. "It's wild. I have people that are so supportive of me that are buying the CD."

Lambert said the new season of "American Idol," set to begin in January, will be very different without Paula Abdul sitting at the judges' table. "I think Paula's amazing," he said. "It's bound to be different. She provided so much warmth and positive critiques. [Simon's] great at what he does. He's hard on people. Paula's the flip ... she provides positive reinforcement."

The singer also talked about what he did before his career in entertainment. "I worked at Starbucks when I was 16. ... It was all right," he said about his former day job. "I liked meeting new people. I used to come home and I stunk of coffee beans and it was awful."

Lambert explained his short-lived stay at college, saying, "[My parents have] always been really supportive [like] when I decided to drop out of college after five weeks. I tried. ... [I was studying] musical theater. I don't know. ... I thought to myself I don't want to learn this in a classroom. [My father] was always supportive. My mother was always supportive. They were always there for me and ... I know they're very proud."

The singer also discussed his younger brother on the show, noting that he did manage to graduate school. "You know he's got a little artistic [side]," he said. "He just graduated college. He was a political science major. He's a great writer. He's a lot more cynical than I am, but he's funny. He's really smart."

The "Idol" runner-up also took some time to clear up rumors that have been floating around about him. "I haven't started a makeup line. I might, but I haven't yet," he said. "My father was rumored to be mortified by what I did [at the 'American Music Awards'] and that we're not speaking. That's a rumor. ... I think Bill O'Reilly perpetuated that. Lovely man. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. [My dad and I] were laughing about it ... so that was a rumor."

Lambert ended his "Leno" appearance with a performance of his song "Whataya Want From Me."

Sin Synthetic's Adam Lambert "Stalker" song being taken down

The underground artist Sin Synthetic has made a bit of a buzz on the internet after the release of his song named "ADAM LAMBERT". You can still hear the song at his myspace at www.SinSynthetic.com It was a fun campy song made about Adam Lambert through the eyes of a stalker.

The singer told us he researched if he was able to use Adam Lambert as the title of the song. His findings were: "I thought I could do this based on research I did previously on the matter. When I researched this I found that you can title a song after a person if the song is directly about that individual. As in the Rosa Parks v. LaFace Records where Rosa Parks case was dismissed in November 1999 by U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Hackett. Rosa Parks v. LaFace Records, et al. was a lawsuit filed in March 1999 on Rosa Parks' behalf against American hip-hop duo OutKast and LaFace Records, claiming that the group had illegally used Rosa Parks' name without her permission for the song."

We researched this and it is true that this case was dismissed based on first amendment rights. However, it seems Sin Synthetic isn't as lucky as a band with deep pockets. As of right now ALL of Sin Synthetic's music sales are being taken from him due to infringement legal matters that have been set into place.

"It is hard for me to except the fact that all my music sales are being taken from me. Even songs that have nothing to do with this. If this continues... I'm not sure of the future of SIN SYNTHETIC."

It has been reported that Adam Lambert himself has heard this song and claimed he "LOVED it and was very flattered by it." So who in his camp is putting the pressure on Sin Synthetic is not clear.

Sin Synthetic had this to make clear: " I will always love Adam Lambert. I believe in him and his music. I made these songs out of fun admiration for him. If someone would have just asked me to rename it from his camp I would have. I don't believe Adam himself has anything to do with the taking of all my music's sales."

"Idol" Wild Child Adam Lambert Readies First Album

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - Adam Lambert -- the man with the outsize personality who delivered an audacious octave-and-a-half sitar-tinged purr of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" on the most-watched TV show in the country, dodged sex toys thrown at him onstage during the "American Idol" tour and did it all without smearing his eyeliner -- is curled in the fetal position.

Balled up in a patio chair on the 10th-story balcony at the offices of 19 Entertainment in Los Angeles, Lambert is the portrait of the goth as a young man -- black clothes and combat boots; dyed black hair and black nail polish; Egyptian-themed jewelry matching the Eye of Horus tattoo on his wrist.

He grabs his knees and constricts himself even tighter as he reveals why he's so emo right now: He's attending the premiere of the film "2012" in a few hours. And his song, "Time for Miracles," plays over the closing credits.

"I'm going to be like this, in my seat, hiding in my popcorn bucket," he says. "It's going to be really weird."

Lambert laughs, unfurls his legs and straightens up in the chair. His worry is, of course, all a joke, an act, a performance. Because, true to the title of his upcoming album, Lambert is here for our entertainment.

DREAM CONTESTANT

When "American Idol" launched in 2002, creator Simon Fuller must have dreamed of a contestant like the 27-year-old Lambert -- one who mixes style and substance, one who can sing anything and cares about cultivating his public image. In a year, Lambert's gone from being one of a herd of auditioners at the San Francisco tryouts to landing the covers of Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone before his album, "For Your Entertainment," was even released.

For Fuller's music company, 19 Entertainment, the eighth season of "American Idol" was something of an embarrassment of riches. The eventual winner, Kris Allen has sold 1.1 million digital downloads of his "Idol" songs, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and contestant Allison Iraheta, with her preternaturally gravelly vocals and artful red and blue hair, is prepared to court the Hayley Williams/Avril Lavigne demographic.

But in a year when the clubby stylings of Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas are setting sales records, it's Lambert's slinky set of dance songs that are poised to steal the spotlight. "For Your Entertainment" will be released Monday (November 23); the title-track lead single sold 18,000 in its first week of release, according to SoundScan, while "Time for Miracles" has sold 68,000 in three weeks. This comes on top of the 997,000 digital tracks sold of Lambert's songs from "Idol."

"He's an artist with a true sense of who he is," RCA Music Group general manager/executive VP Tom Corson says. "It's our job to work with him and present him with options to help steer the ship -- but ultimately it's his call. He has a vision."

'ENTERTAINMENT' TONIGHT

The cover of "For Your Entertainment" shows Lambert as a three-dimensional version of Patrick Nagel's artwork for Duran Duran's "Rio": all glam makeup and sharp angles. It's not subtle in any way -- Lambert is gleeful as he points out that he wore all that makeup -- but it's true to his image as a showman who combines singing talent with a theatrical bent.

It's an image he flaunted throughout "Idol" -- and was never more exemplified than in Lambert's retort to judge Simon Cowell's critique that one of his performances was too "Rocky Horror." ("I like 'Rocky Horror,'" Lambert patiently explained.)

But it's rare that a persona crafted on "Idol" doesn't go through some sort of intensification as the performer transitions from contestant to professional: Texas cutie Kelly Clarkson took on a pop sheen; Carrie Underwood's country chops were honed on the show.

For Lambert, he was "Glambert" from the start.

"I think there's a misconception -- people think that 'Idol' is like a Svengali puppeteer," Lambert says. "I think that may be the perception because certain people that have gone through the system didn't have a strong idea of what they wanted to do visually. I think the minute you do, they respond to that. And I've been very verbal and opinionated about what I want to create, and they've been nothing but supportive of that."

When Lambert moved to Los Angeles from San Diego eight years ago and began working in theater and as a session singer, he quickly learned that business acumen was just as important as musical talent. At 27, he's in the upper age range of "Idol" contestants -- the cutoff for the show is 28 -- and the simple fact of his added life experience could serve him well as he transitions away from the spotlight that is built into the show.

"I do consider myself part artist, part businessperson," Lambert says. "I find marketing interesting, I find publicity interesting. I find the whole process interesting. I think there's some artists that are really focused on the music and the artistry, but I also think being a showman and being an entertainer is more than just being a musician. It's everything -- it's something to look at and to listen to."

SURPRISE FACTOR

The songs on "For Your Entertainment" rely heavily on dance beats, but there are a number of ballads for contrast. "When I was picking my singles, I thought maybe I should do more of a rock thing because that's what people expect. But if I did what people expected of me, I don't think I would have gotten through 'Idol' the way I did," Lambert says. "It's part of my shtick as an artist to keep surprising people."

One defining characteristic is the A-list writing and production credits throughout the album: "Soaked," which Lambert says is about a one-night stand, was written by Muse's Matthew Bellamy and produced by Rob Cavallo, who worked on four tracks on the album; "Strut" was written by Lambert, "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi and Greg Wells, who also produced; Ryan Tedder wrote and produced "Sleepwalker" alongside co-writers Aimee Mayo and Chris Lindsey.

"If an artist has the skills and ambition to write songs, then we will actively encourage and pursue this, often by pairing our artists with the world's very best songwriters, allowing them to learn and develop their writing skills," 19 Entertainment founder/CEO Simon Fuller says.

The announcement of the pairing of Lambert and Lady Gaga on the track "Fever" was fodder for gossip blogs, but Gaga doesn't actually perform on the track, Lambert says, explaining, "She was on the other side of the glass just egging me on."

Of the title track, which was produced by Dr. Luke, who co-wrote it with Claude Kelly, Lambert says, "I wanted to release something that would be played in a club, that would make you dance on New Year's."

He means that literally -- "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve With Ryan Seacrest" is one of the TV appearances lined up for Lambert in the coming month. The promotional campaign starts Sunday (November 22) with his show-closing performance at the American Music Awards.

'IDOL' GIVES BACK

All of this is the result of a heady year. At this time in 2008, Lambert was waiting for the Hollywood elimination rounds of "Idol" to start. In TV time, it takes six months for "Idol" to crown a winner, but the production process runs year-round.

Despite the artifice of the show, it does drop-kick contestants into the media spotlight -- a valuable lesson for any pop star. "They put you through it to see if you can hang," Lambert says.

The 2009 season of "Idol" attracted an average of 25.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen, the lowest average in several years; but it's still the most-watched show on TV, as it has been since 2004. The finale in which Allen was proclaimed the winner over Lambert drew 28.8 million viewers -- 10 million more than the 2009 Grammy Awards.

"The finale of 'Idol' was pretty epic," Lambert says. "I got up there and was singing with Queen and Kiss -- I got to put on a costume. I really feel the finale summed up what I'm trying to do, and what I'm going to do. I think that being onstage with legendary people like that reminds you of what showmanship is."

Weeks after the "Idol" season wrapped, the top 10 contestants embarked on the Idols Live tour -- a valedictory sprint of 52 cities in three months that grossed $30 million this year, according to Billboard Boxscore.

While group numbers are a standard part of the touring show, each high-placing "Idol" contestant gets his or her chance to shine in a solo. Lambert did a medley of David Bowie's "Life on Mars?," "Fame" and "Let's Dance." He saw it as a chance to stage-test the sound he had in mind for his debut. "I always wanted to do Bowie songs, and I never did them on 'Idol' because it wasn't ever the right fit," he says. "We did a different, slightly modern production, which is basically what I'm doing on my album."

And much like the TV show, the "Idol" tour puts its participants through the wringer. "I've done theater for years and I've sung for a long time, but I've never done a solo set in concert night after night while traveling," Lambert says. "It was a good way to learn about how to take care of yourself and how to pace yourself while on the road."

PERSONAL MATTERS

With the fame come challenges; Lambert has become a favorite subject of the tabloids and paparazzi. "Yeah, it's weird," he says. "You know, it's like, 'Hi, I'm just walking to my car -- why do you care?'"

It's very likely that they care because of the wink-wink, nudge-nudge game that was played in the media about Lambert's sexuality during his "Idol" tenure. Lambert didn't answer the questions about whether he was gay until the Rolling Stone cover article in June; since then he's become Adam Lambert, Icon for Gay Youth -- not a mantle he shoulders easily.

"I don't want to be a spokesperson for anybody, no matter who they are," he says. "I'm not following this career path to be a role model or to be a poster child for anything except for music. If there's an indirect impact that my presence has on certain issue, then I think that's a good thing."

It's an issue that will get raised again and again -- as he walked the red carpet for "2012," for example, he was asked if he brought a date. His laughing response? "My date is my jacket, actually."

A few days after the premiere, Lambert is sitting in Fuller's office, swiveling back and forth in a white office chair as he prepares for another long day of media interviews. The movie, as it turned out, was a blast, and "Time for Miracles" was warmly received. "People stayed and listened," he says, honestly happy.

Of course they did. That's entertainment.

Adam Lambert Announces Band For AMA Awards Show

With just over six days left to purchase the debut Adam Lambert CD For Your Entertainment, fans will now get the chance to listen to the entire album at the Season 8 American Idol runner-up's MySpace. Additionally, Lambert has been rehearsing with his newly announced band for upcoming television appearances on the American Music Awards, Late Show With David Letterman and Good Morning America.

In a Twitter message today, Adam writes: "On my way to rehearsals for the AMA performance of For Your Entertainment. My band and dancers are siiiiick."

In an earlier message, Adam revealed a photo and his band members first names: "My band and I on set! Lisa on keys, Monte on guitar, Tommy on bass, and Longineu on drums. These musicians are the best!!!

In our best guess, the band consists of:

Monte Pittman (Madonna, Prong) on guitar
Tommy Victor (Prong) on bass
Longineu Parsons III (Yellowcard) on drums
Lisa Pittman on keyboards

Monte Pittman and Longineu Parsons were revealed through various Twitter messages, while Adam has a history of performing in the band Citizen Vein with Prong bandmates Monte Pittman and Tommy Victor. Monte also co-wrote some material on For Your Entertainment. The best guess for Lisa, is Lisa Pittman, who was the background vocalist on her husband Monte's CD The Deepest Dark. She was around the Citizen Vein band and has taken published photos of them. One rumor about the identity of Lisa is that she is Lisa Coleman from Wendy & Lisa and Prince & The Revoluition, however confirmation from Coleman's partner and manager Renata Kanclerz has confirmed it is not her. A further Lisa being thrown about is Lisa Rae Harriton, the keyboard player from Smashing Pumpkins

Further speculation is that the bassist is TommyJoe Ratliff, who other than a private MySpace profile has pretty much no information available anywhere.

There is no confirmation if this is the permanent band that will tour with Lambert.

To those who found Adam Lambert’s upcoming album cover to be a tacky mash-up of twinkling fonts, outdated inspiration and retouching gone wrong, the “American Idol” runner-up wants to make one thing perfectly clear: he meant to do that.

The singer took to his Twitter account Wednesday, hoping to convince critics that the cover art represented a tongue-in-cheek tribute rather than a personal case of bad taste.

“Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy,” Lambert wrote. “It's an (homage) to the past. It IS ridiculous.”

If some are still undecided about the singer’s fairly obvious intent (seriously, forget the glitter — the pore-free “glamour shot” look and frosty pink lipstick give it away), Lambert takes comfort in the fact he was at least noticed, if not understood.

“For those that don't get it: oh well…Glad to have gotten your attention,” the performer tweeted before signing off with, "Androgyny. Rock n Roll.”

Adam Lambert Promises 'Glam Is Back' With His Debut Album

While Adam Lambert's debut album doesn't hit stores for more than a month, the "American Idol" runner-up is offering fans some hints about what they can expect.

In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, Lambert says he was influenced by the Killers and Muse for the yet-untitled LP. "It's as if a '70s time capsule blasted off into space and you're watching it through a holographic filter," he said. "That's my big vision. ... Glam is back, mother----ers."

Lambert told the magazine that he struggled while deciding on a sound for the album. "When I got off the 'Idol' tour, I had a little identity crisis," he explained. "I was like, 'What do I wanna do?' "

Lambert worked with Rob Cavallo and former Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins on "Music Again" and has a song written by Pink and Max Martin, "What Do You Want From Me?" "It works on a relationship level, but I also relate to the sense of talking to the public," he said. "Like, 'This whole thing's a little freaked out, but please have faith in me, because I won't disappoint you.' "

He wrote the song "Strut" with "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi, and he said, "It's a Gary Glitter/ T.Rex-type empowerment lyric. You're not gonna find love and happiness unless you let your hair down and strut your stuff."

Lambert co-wrote "Loaded Smile" with Linda Perry, and it's not quite as glittery as "Strut." "It's a bit dark, with all the vocals in falsetto," he said. "It feels like you're floating in space."

The album will span many genres, Lambert said, so he doesn't get stuck in one lane. "I don't think an album has to have one sound. ... I don't like boxing myself into a genre," he said. "But if I had to pick one major style, the classic-rock stuff is where I was most comfortable on the show — or at least that's what people saw me as the most.

"I wanna rock, I want people to dance, I want people to cry, I want people to smile and laugh," he said. "I wanna play dress-up!"

In other Lambert news, according to MJsBigBlog.com, Lambert is filming an interview with Oprah Winfrey to air on an upcoming episode of her talk show. The blog reports that the audience for the episode will be comprised of reality-TV fans who were asked to submit questions for Lambert. He'll be interviewed via Skype from Los Angeles.

Reps for the show hadn't responded to MTV News' call to confirm by press time.

Adam Lambert Album Update: More Producers, More Tweets

There's never been a contestant quite like Adam Lambert on "American Idol." Actually, forget "Idol" — there's never been a major-label artist quite like Adam Lambert. So it's understandable that "Idol" — and music — fans are clamoring for any and all tidbits they hear about his still-untitled RCA debut, which hits stores on November 24. On "Idol," Lambert proved that he could rock just as loud as Axl Rose and deliver vocals as tender as Jeff Buckley, while on the "American Idols Live!" tour, the "rock gawd" turned David Bowie's "Fame" into a playful, sexual romp.

With all that creativity busting out of the seams (of his stylish trenchcoats), the album could go in a million different directions. No wonder we're all dying to know what it will actually sound like. The suspense is killing me!

Thankfully, Lambert has been dropping a few hints on Twitter this past week, so let's investigate.

This past Saturday, Adam mentioned he was going into the studio with Rob Cavallo, who produced "A Time For Miracles," the Lambert tune to be featured in the upcoming flick "2012." Since nobody has heard it yet (except for Queen's Brian May, who said he was "completely blown away" by the song) we can only assume that any future tracks by Cavallo for Lambert will be equally life-changing. Score!

Then on Sunday, Adam tweeted, "In Denver recording w/ Ryan Tedder! Get ready for your sonic lobotomy!" "Sonic lobotomy" sounds uber-promising! Ryan Tedder, however, does not. I don't know about you guys, but as much as I dig "Halo" and "Already Gone" and "Battlefield" and "Bleeding Love," Tedder's songs are all starting to sound the same to me. (Even Kelly Clarkson thought so.) Here's hoping Tedder digs deep to give Adam an extra-special track (or ten).

Then last night, Lambert wrote, "Denver Tedder sessions were major! Looking forward to working with the fantastic Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly tomorrow!" He quickly followed that up with two more tweets: "I know it sounds corny, but this album is a dream come true. I am lucky to be working with the best producers & writers in the world!" and "Get ready to shake yo asses! There be some beats a-comin'!"

Beats a-comin'! A dream come true! Shaking posteriors! Yay! I'm very happy that Adam's happy. I'm also relieved that despite having "'Idol' runner-up" status, he's had no trouble enlisting the hottest collaborators working right now. Claude Kelly's knob-twiddling helped Lady Gaga emerge as a radio-staple, while Dr. Luke is practically synonymous with the term "hit record," having helmed huge singles by Britney, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus and Pink. (It's also important to note that several members of Adam's team are also working on songs for "Idol" cohorts Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta.)

I'll save my rant about how I wish Adam was also enlisting some lesser-known-but-equally-impressive songwriters and producers (like the Knife and Basement Jaxx) for another blog entry. It doesn't feel right to kvetch about who he is working with when I haven't heard a single note of an Adam Lambert song yet. (Despite reports that a rumored first single called "Strut" is making the rounds to industry insiders, MTV News hasn't received it. WTF?) All I will say is that Adam has the potential to be bigger than a Top 40 act, and I just hope the A-listers on Adam's album also bring their A-game.

While I go figure out a way to eliminate the month of October to bring us that much closer to Adam's (and Kris') release dates, leave a comment below and let us know what aspect of Lambert's impressive "Idol" oeuvre you hope is represented on his major-label debut.

It has been revealed that American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has voiced his opinion over the events surrounding Kanye West at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards.
If you haven’t heard already, Kanye has been condemned by the media and fans around the world, for appearing on stage during Taylor Swift’s speech for Best Female Video. You can watch a video showing the whole incident here.
The events of last night has prompted celebrities to give their opinions on what happened. One of these is Adam Lambert who has posted a message over at his official Twitter page which reads:
”Kanye needs to chill. He freaks out every year. It ain’t that deep man.”
We tend to agree with Adam, as it isn’t the first time that Kanye has behaved in this manner at award ceremonies. Let us know what you think of his comments.

Adam Lambert took advantage of his day off from the "American Idols Live" tour on Thursday by staying in Chicago an extra day and having a quiet dinner at SUSHISAMBA rio (504 N Wells).

Unlike the previous night at the Allstate Arena, where fans squealed for the "American Idol" runner-up, Lambert went mostly unnoticed as he dined with his parents and cousin at the River North restaurant. This probably had more to do with the fact that the majority of the people there were hanging out at the bar upstairs and didn't see him.

The group ordered a variety of items off the menu, including Kobe beef empanadas (sounds good), the Shrimp Tempura Roll (sounds healthy) and Unagi Tamago (who?). They saved room for dessert -- keep in mind Lambert is a big dude -- and had chocolate fondue and chocolate banana cake, among other things.

After they were done eating, I caught up with Lambert outside and asked if I could take a picture of him.

"Sure," responded Lambert. "But don't you want to get in the picture?"

Truth be told, I don't love getting in the pictures. And as long as we're being honest, I probably saw one episode of "American Idol" this past season. Still, I got in the picture anyway.

Speaking of "Idol," Anoop Desai was seen eating at Sunda on Thursday while Danny Cokey was spotted at Trump Tower. Allison Iraheta ate at David Burke's Primehouse inside The James Hotel and Scott MacIntyre and Michael Sarver hung out at the hotel's JBar. The Idols stayed at The James on Wednesday and Thursday night.

The next stop on the tour is Madison, WI on Friday.

I just think it's kind of disgusting and insulting to him as a gay man. What do you think?

Adam Lambert's New '2012' Song: Great Or The Greatest?

It sounds like Adam Lambert will be making his big screen debut this November. But don't worry, "Idol" fans. It won't be another "From Justin to Kelly" catastrophe (although I imagine there's a small contingent of "Idol" freaks who would kill to see a musical romance between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert). Nope, instead this disaster will be of the Roland Emmerich-fueled sci-fi kind, meaning lots of stuff will get blown up.

After weeks of speculation and coy remarks to the press, it has been confirmed by legendary Queen guitarist Brian May that Adam Lambert has recorded a song for the upcoming Emmerich opus "2012." In a blog post dated Friday, August 14th, Mr. May gushed like a total fan-girl over the track, which he heard while hanging with producer Rob Cavallo. Read his comments (in a British accent, for full effect) below:

"I have to say I was completely blown away ... it's truly sensational. In fact it's so obviously a number one smash, any bookie would be mad to take bets on it. I am not kidding. I'm not easily moved to jelly by male vocalists ... but Adam's voice reaches out with sensitivity, depth, maturity, and awesome range and power which will make jaws drop all around the world. Its an awesome performance. No doubt about it. The world of Rock has a bright new star."

You think he liked it? Seriously, I haven't seen someone freak over an "Idol" like that since ... well, since I interviewed Kris Allen last week.

So here's what we know: The song was produced by Cavallo, whose name you know from working with David Cook, Green Day, My Chemical Romance and — randomly — Paris Hilton. Meat Loaf's drummer John Miceli was involved in some capacity. We assume the tune will be rolling over the end credits after (potential spoiler alert!) John Cusack and his band of misfits probably save the world, and ... that's about all we know.

But rest easy, Glamberts! We are working overtime to get as many details as possible over the highly-anticipated tune. What's it called? Will it also be on his major-label debut album this fall? Will it be "Rock Gawd" Lambert or "Gentle Jeff Buckley Balladeer" Lambert? And how badly does Brian May want Lambert to be in Queen? We're making as many phone calls as humanly possible to get to the bottom of this. So stay tuned...

Blessed with boyish handsome good looks and equipped with his trademark black eyeliner and dyed asymmetrical coiffure, American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert's Rolling Stone cover is the magazine's top-selling issue of the year, according to Extra.

The 27-year-old Lambert came out to America in the magazine’s June 25 issue. His sexual orientation became a hot topic when photos of the singer kissing another man surfaced on the Internet during the American Idol competition.

“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” Lambert told Rolling Stone. “I’m proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.”

Lambert wowed audiences on Idol, infusing the show with rock-star glam, but was eventually beaten by fellow contestant and friend Kris Allen in the finals.

The singer has teamed up with Lady Gaga producer RedOne for his debut CD, scheduled to be released in the fall.

Apparently some fans were not so please with Adam Lambert after his performance at the Prudential Center in Newark on Sunday night because he did not sign autographs after the show, prompting him to send out the following Tweet, “Hey guys. I have gotten a few negative messages about not signing autographs. Sorry if anyone is disappointed…I feel bad but please understand that I try to give you guys 110% on stage. Your ticket is to see us perform! Entitlement is not sexy...”

Adam Lambert announced yesterday on Twitter, “Looking forward to tonight's show! Unfortunately, due to doctors orders I need to rest my voice AFTER the performances...So I may not be attending after show meet and greet or autograph sessions. Thank you all for understanding that I need to look after myself!”

Adam’s solution to appease his fans, throw a Twitter party! He sent out the following message last night, “In an attempt to make up for any disappointment, let's have a Twitter party tonight!!! The entertainment world was stunned Tuesday night when news broke that Paula Abdul will not be returning to American Idol this coming season.

The judge was unable to come to financial terms with the show's producers about her return.

Abdul just took to her official Twitter to talk about her departure from the #1 show in America.

Fans have taken it up a notch from throwing bras and panties at Adam Lambert during the American Idol summer tour. Now they're tossing up sex toys.

"It's going further, and somebody threw onstage a red-leather tasseled whip," he tells us. "Yeah, and then the next night, I got one that was made out of, like, purple fur. It's getting really S&M."

Adam Lambert To Fuse Classic-Rock Sound With 'Dancier' Vibe On Debut

Adam Lambert wasn't too excited when his unofficial music hit the Web last month, but now he's in control.

MTV News caught up with Lambert before the American Idols Live! tour stop in Los Angeles, and he was more than happy to share details about his upcoming debut album.

"It's kind of taking the best parts of music from the '70s, like the classic-rock era, and trying to somehow fuse it with modern, dancier, electronic production," the "American Idol" runner-up explained. "It's kind of a fusion thing."

We already told you Lambert was teaming up with Lady Gaga producer RedOne, but he has a few other hitmakers up his sleeve as well. He'll be working with Greg Wells, the producer and songwriter behind hits by Pink, Katy Perry and original "American Idol" champ Kelly Clarkson. OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who wrote Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love," is also onboard, as is Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful," Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" and much more).

Just like during his "Idol" journey, Lambert is planning to shake up tempos and styles on the yet-untitled LP.

"It goes back and forth," he said. "There's some ballads, there's some uptempo, there's some songs that are a little bit more straightforward, current pop. There are some songs that are more dance; there are some songs that are straight rock."

So what's his favorite song so far? "I can't tell!," he laughed. "I'm not allowed."

But he does promise to deliver. "The music's gonna be great. Just wait a couple months. You gotta be patient."

Adam Lambert Targeted By Anti-Gay Protesters Outside American Idol Concert

San Jose, CA (CNS) - "American Idol" finalist Adam Lambert, who "came out" in last month's interview with Rolling Stone magazine, was targeted by anti-gay protesters outside the talent show's concert in San Jose, California Sunday.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church were spotted demonstrating outside the show at HP Pavilion, where the Season 8 finalists of the show were performing as part of the annual Idols Live Summer Tour.

The protesters were carrying signs criticizing homosexuals and were reportedly chanting slurs about Lambert's sexuality.

Another finalist, Michael Sarver, said that Lambert, who finished second place in the show, wasn't affected by the demonstrators outside.

He told fans through his Tweeter account the 27-year-old glam rocker was "just fine, shakes it off and so should we."

Adam Lambert Talks About Michael Jackson

Adam Lambert told Rolling Stone, "We were in the middle of rehearsing the tour when we heard the sad news. Michael Jackson just died. I went, 'What?' and stopped singing. Everybody just stopped. We canceled rehearsals for the rest of the day. No one could really believe it."

Lambert told the magazine, "I have memories of dancing around my house to his music. There's video of me somewhere lip-synching 'Beat It' when I was probably seven, with a flashlight on my face."

"'Rock With You' was my first audition song for American Idol," he continued. "I had actually never performed a Michael Jackson song before."

Lambert said when the AI finalists did the Michael Jackson show this year, he thought, "What song should I choose? They're all so good. It was either 'Black or White' or 'Thriller.' I wanted to make more of a statement the first time out, and 'Black or White' comments on culture and racial harmony in a very eloquent way. It also means a lot of other things. To me, personally, it was, 'it doesn't matter if you're straight or gay. It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman. I loved the sentiment there. What was really cool about Michael is that he straddled a really fine line of race and sexuality. There was something very androgynous about him, and very race neutral. People criticized him for lightening his skin or whatever, but he was like his own race. A lot of people saw it as bad, but it was kind of fascinating. And very original."

Life on the road for the American Idols summer tour doesn't seem all that difficult for Adam or Kris Allen.

Kris told E Online that he brought along a lock of his wife's hair, "so I can brush it on my face."

Adam, however, eskews the need to carry around a lock of Drake's hair. Instead, he said, "I need to have my iPod, so I can have music with me."

Lambert has also purchased a new iPhone, which he is still figuring out how to use. He told the Calgary Herald during an interview he "isn't quite sure how it works, so, um, sorry if I accidentally cut you off."

Adam told the Herald that his experience on AI grounded him. He admits the music industry is different than he thought, but insists Idol did not wreste control of his artistic ambition.

"I like to control what I create and what I perform," he said, "And with Idol, they let me do that. There's this perception out there that they control you, and that's not the case. They consult about everything . . . it's all been kind of up to me."

The post-Idol chaos, including non-stop rehearsing and endless media interviews, is handled by experts,and Adam said that's fine by him. "The day-to-day stuff isn't up to me, but to be honest, it takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders. I'd be a mess if I had to look after that at the moment."

Adam's set on the Idols tour includes a David Bowie medley -- "Life on Mars," "Fame" and "Let's Dance" -- which he'll deliver with an electronic spin while decked out in a blue metallic silver bomber jacket with tails and spikes.

Lambert has also been busy in the studio, writing and recording songs for a CD that will be released in November.

He says the best advice he's gotten so far came from Katy Perry who told him, simply, "You gotta stay happy."

Sin Synthetic's Adam Lambert Song Is Now Available!

If you haven't heard this song yet... Where have you been? Artist Sin Synthetic stirred up a bit of controversy on the web when his Myspace Music page began playing a new song called: Adam Lambert. What had the blogs buzzing was the lyrics. Sin Synthetic states that he wrote this song from the point of view of a crazed glambert stalker. "This song is just fun. I am in no way a stalker. This is just a story I'm telling...", Sin Synthetic explains. "I think Adam himself will see the fun in it... at least I hope he does."

New Song Released IS NOT New Material

We still have to wait a bit longer for new Adam songs.

In an attempt to drum up more press, the label head responsible for releasing Adam Lambert's old recordings is speaking out!

John Hecker, CEO of Hi Fi Recordings, claims that the American Idol runner-up co-wrote the tracks on his album, On With The Show, which Hecker plans to release this summer.

We recall Glambert saying: "Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else."

Hecker tells a different story!

"The music's amazing," the Hi Fi Recordings CEO tells Billboard. "There are some uptempo [songs], there's some that rock a little more, and there are some songs on the same tip as Want. It's a real album that's coming out, not just a conglomerate of a bunch of songs. This is all original material — as a matter of fact, Adam wrote a lot of it."

Inneresting!

Hecker claims Glambert stopped into the studio days before the Idol finale and was "blown away by the material."

And even though the label head hasn't talked to 19 Entertainment because it "wasn't relevant" at the time, Hecker is confident releasing Adam's album before the new Glamberella material is out is in no ways illegal

Says Hecker: "We would never put anything out that wasn't fully owned by the parties involved with all the rights secured. We were really careful."

And of course, Hecker believes what he is doing is best for Glambert's career!

"I'm working [Adam's] brand with as much care as anybody could," he concludes. "I do not want to hurt this guy, I want this guy to be as huge as he should be, and I think this music is only going to help."

Hmm…

Sounds to us like this guy just wants to ca$h in on the Glambert's recent rise to fame!

Adam Lambert Joins Forces with Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" Producer RedOne

Adam Lambert's New Album to be Released This Autumn!

American Idol runner-up and current Rolling Stone cover star Adam Lambert will be working on six songs with RedOne on his debut album, the hitmaker told the Los Angeles Times‘ Pop & Hiss blog. RedOne is the producer behind three of Lady Gaga’s biggest hits — “Poker Face,” “LoveGame” and the Grammy-winning “Just Dance.”

“I want to go rock — David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get,” RedOne said of his plans for Lambert. “It has to be rock, but with an interesting dance angle to it, you know? You’ll like it.” According to the LAT, RedOne and Lambert shared about five hours of studio time together this past weekend. RedOne’s goals echo what Lambert himself told RS about what he hopes to accomplish with his debut album. “I want to do something that has theatricality, a nod to the glam rockers that I love, but is also contemporary,” Lambert said.

While Lambert’s reps wouldn’t confirm the collaboration to LAT, Lambert did tell Parade, “I can say that is true. We have been writing the past couple days and I think we’re going to come out with some amazing tunes. I’m going to have my own sound but I do love Lady Gaga. I’m a huge fan.” Lambert also added that he’s already deep into the process of writing for the new album.

“You know what I like about him? He’s fresh,” RedOne told LAT. “You can go almost whatever direction with him. People know him from being on American Idol, singing other people’s songs, but you can take him in a new direction, and this will be the first time you hear Adam Lambert with his signature. My goal is to get his signature out from him to the world.” Lambert’s debut disc is penciled in for an autumn release.

Adam Lambert: It kind of did develop over time. You grow older and you realize how lucky you are to be in certain situations based on your hindsight and perspective. And whenever I feelt myself slipping at all or getting into a negative headspace, I remind myself of people who don't have what they want or don't feel as free as I've felt of late. And that makes me feel how fortunate I am.

4:12	[Comment From Catherine] I know it's way early, but have you thought about what the name of your first album was going to be? Do you have any ideas yet?

4:12	Adam Lambert: It is a bit early. I'm fond of the idea of taking a line from a song that's going to be on the album and taking the title from that. But it's still early. We're just starting the writing process. It'll be provocative, nonetheless.

4:13	Adam Lambert: I think it's a blend of many. I don't think that I fit into one category, so I am inspired by many different kinds of music, so I hope to create, like, a fusion.

Adam Lambert: It feels really strange because I don't think of myself that way... I kind of have grown up with a slight ugly duckling kind of complex. In high school, I was overweight and awkward and didn't feel sexy. In the last couple of years, I've become comfortable in my own skin, and I do feel sexy now, but not the kind of sexy you see in a mirror, but it's more of an inside-out thing. And thank you for the compliment because it makes me feel really good!

Not only the tour, but the creation of the album and various activities I'm involved with right now.

Adam Lambert: We do not have plans -- yet. But that's not to say it's not going to happen. it's all in discussion. Basically, we have to acquire a bunch of songs, then decide which songs make the album. So as we collect songs, we'll see where a duet would fit in. As far as performing with any other singers, I have a huge list, but I think Lady Gaga would be a blast to perform with. She's innovative and brave and really, really fresh.

And to his credit, and my relief, he usually listened!” What were some of the outfits they talked you out of?

4:21	Adam Lambert: There's actually only one. And it was just the idea that was really cool, but the actual execution just felt a little bit corny. But, for the most part, Miles and Art and I collaborated like a team and we had a great time putting outfits together.

4:21	Adam Lambert: I did not do that, that was the stylist.

4:22	Adam Lambert: Blue and silver... and definitely a lot of black. And bring your black nail polish and your eyeliner, people! And just sprinkle glitter all over everything!

4:22	Adam Lambert: I taught myself. I've been doing theater for years and you have to learn how to do stage makeup in your early days, so it's not that different.

4:22	Adam Lambert: Yeah, that would be amazing. First goal is the record, maybe a music video, and touring and everything that comes with an album. Then we'll see what happens after that.

Adam Lambert: Yeah, I think that's kind of how the rpess works. They tend to sensationalize every little thing you say, and repeat it and repeat it. Sometimes, it's like the game of telephone... what you say gets exaggerated and changed. But I find it all very funny and I'm not upset by that at all. That's just the way it goes.

4:23	[Comment From Dragonfly] Growing up, were you ever a crazy awe-struck fan of any artist?

4:24	Adam Lambert: I was always really into Madonna and Michael Jackson. I thought they were so original and inventive and bold.

4:24	Adam Lambert: I do not play any instruments... except my throat. I don't really have any hobbies that you guys wouldn't know about. If I can think of anything that will surprise you guys, I promise I'll let you know.

4:25	Adam Lambert: It doesn't bother me. I'm sure that it's interesting to people, but I do think that we should focus more on the music, because ultimately my sexual preference really doesn't have anything to do with me as an entertainer.
